Provide training and incentives for residents to make emergency preparation improvements. 

 

In November 2014, we partnered with the American Red Cross and the Tzu Chi Foundation to hold a disaster preparedness workshop in Chinese. This workshop helped monolingual residents prepare for potential disasters. Participants learned CPR skills and how to treat minor wounds.

 

Our office also became the first sitting Supervisor’s office to become fully NERT-certified in February 2015. More than 80 community members joined us in the invaluable training. We learned important skills and strategies through the NERT program, and hope that many more residents will become NERT certified and be prepared for any emergency situation. We look forward to bringing additional learning opportunities to our neighborhood.
