Continue advocacy efforts for additional foot patrol officers along our commercial corridors.

Although there is a low rate of violent crimes in the Sunset District, our neighborhood experiences a high number of property crimes, such as car break-ins, vandalism and theft. With a significant increase in property crime rates citywide in the last few years, our office has made it a priority to support efforts to ensure adequate staffing within the Police Department. With adequate staffing in the Police Department, SFPD will be able to add additional officers on foot patrol to each district stations. Maintaining foot patrols in key areas, such as commercial corridors, would lessen the opportunity for these crimes to occur. Currently, the Sunset District has one officer on foot patrol assigned to Irving Street between 7th and 26th Ave. Our office has advocated for increasing this staffing to two officers on Irving Street, and we await new officers graduating from the Police Academy in August 2015. We will also continue our advocacy for additional beat-officers districtwide.
