Work with Taraval Police Station, SF Safety Awareness for Everyone (SF SAFE), and San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (SF NERT) to provide additional workshops on public safety and emergency preparedness topics.

Our office has held several workshops in partnership with SF SAFE, SF NERT, and other organizations to provide public safety and emergency preparedness information to the community. In November 2014, we hosted a Chinese Language Disaster Preparedness Couse in partnership with the American Red Cross and the Tzu Chi Foundation. Chinese-speaking residents were given information on how to prepare for potential disasters. We also hold Chinese Police Community Relations forums every quarter at South Sunset Recreation Center in partnership with Self-Help for the Elderly. These forums focus on traffic safety and scams by perpetrators disguising themselves as city workers, among other topics. Finally, we have assisted SF SAFE groups in connecting with city department representatives to present at neighborhood watch meetings on a variety of topics, including tips on residential crime prevention.

We will continue to brainstorm relevant public safety and emergency preparedness topics for workshops. In addition, we are working with the District Attorney’s Office and SF Police Department to co-host a public safety forum in the Sunset District in September 2015.
