Create opportunities for public art that define and add vibrancy to the neighborhood, and that strengthen the Sunset District’s local culture and sense of place and history.

 

As part of the Taraval Streetscape Improvement Project, residents and visitors will notice a tiled artwork piece consisting of three surfboards at the intersection of Great Highway and Taraval. This artwork serves as a neighborhood marker, which our office hopes to build upon along the Great Highway. Our office met with the Arts Commission to determine how our office can be better supported in installing more public art in District 4. Through this past budget process, our office secured $250,000 for this effort. As was noted in the Blueprint, our office will begin with efforts along the Great Highway. We will continue working with the Arts Commission and other partners to ensure we can make District 4 a vibrant neighborhood.
