Support development of small business web portal to streamline the City’s permitting and licensing processes.
Our office has been a vocal advocate of the City’s effort to create an online business portal to streamline and simplify business interactions with the City. The development of the online business portal has been instrumental in identifying process and service gaps for those looking to start or expand their business in San Francisco. We supported the Mayor’s funding of the second phase of the business portal, which includes exploring how to allow businesses to fill out and submit applications online. The San Francisco Business Portal was launched in November 2014, and we will continue to support it as it goes through its next phase.
Our office also held a hearing in July 2015 with city departments that interact with small businesses in order to understand and identify challenges in the permitting process for restaurants. Challenges and solutions identified at the hearing will help us improve the permitting process for all industries.
