Continue to support the City’s Invest in Neighborhoods program to provide focused and customized assistance to meet the needs of Sunset District commercial corridors. 

 

Our office is dedicated to supporting the City’s Invest in Neighborhoods (IIN) program, which provides focused and customized assistance to meet the needs of Sunset District Commercial Corridors. In the last year, our office worked in conjunction with (IIN) on the following projects:

 

• Irving Streetscape Improvement Project (outreach began 2014; scheduled for completion 2017)

• Taraval Streetscape Improvement Project (completed July 2015)

• Movies in McCoppin (annual event in October)

• Ocean Beach Music & Art Festival (annual event in October)

• Tree and sidewalk plantings with Friends of the Urban Forest (ongoing)

 

Currently, our office is continuing efforts to assist Rolling Out Café (1722 Taraval Street) in installing a parklet. We are also working with SF Beautiful and merchants on mid-Noriega to provide small scale improvements on Noriega Street between 19th and 33rd Avenue. The possible improvements in the area include art, landscaping, seating, and/or lighting. Community meetings will be held in August 2015 to gather ideas and input from residents and merchants in the neighborhood. We are also working with OEWD to create a small business development program in the form of a temporary pop-up retail space to give young small businesses a more affordable opportunity to locate in the Sunset District.
