Festivals in the Sunset

Community festivals provide great opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the Sunset District. This year, our office will be organizing the Autumn Moon Festival on September 12 on Irving Street (between 22nd – 25th Ave) and the Sunset Community Festival on September 19 at West Sunset Playground (39th and Ortega). These festivals were started by community members years ago, and our office has heard from many residents their desire to continue these two events.

Discover Your District (DYD)

Our office started the Discover Your District (DYD) series as a first-of-its-kind, neighborhood program that aims to provide community members with the opportunity to connect with each other and enjoy neighborhood activities. After the first round of DYD events, residents had the opportunity to interact with a range of District 4 small businesses and organizations. Neighbors created holiday gift tags with 3 Fish Studios, learned the art of roasting coffee with Henry’s House of Coffee, and learned to make dumplings with the owner of Kingdom of Dumpling, among other activities. Our office received great feedback from participants that they were able to learn new skills and visit small businesses they had never visited before. In light of the great feedback and popularity of this program, our office looks forward to continuing this program.
