Improve and expand senior facilities in the Sunset District.

 

Currently, about 100 seniors participate in a daily meal program at South Sunset Recreation Center (40th Ave & Vicente).  Given its limited space, the current facility is at capacity and is sometimes unable to serve all seniors who need services. Our office is currently working on including the construction of a new community center in an upcoming Parks Bond in the next few years. We heard throughout the Blueprint outreach process about the desire by neighbors to have a community center in the Sunset District for various purposes. We envision a new community center to serve seniors during the daytime, and students for afterschool programs. Our office will keep the community informed about our progress on this effort, as well as any opportunities to provide public input on this suggestion.  Please stay tuned on this one!
