Advocate for more affordable early care and education options.

 

Providing affordable early care and education options has become one of the key issues in supporting and keeping families in San Francisco. Our office has been working on bridging the information gap between parents and the early care and education opportunities available in the Sunset District. However, our most important effort currently has been focused on ensuring that early care and education providers are being adequately funded. We successfully advocated for funding in the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 budget to backfill state cuts that occurred two years ago, and we will continue to advocate at the state level to ensure reimbursement rates are commensurate with San Francisco costs. These efforts will help us recruit and retain quality providers.
